...racing the fastest route possible to Terminal 4 (with that damn bus transfer!) put me in the airport at 6.15p, 25 minutes before my flight and 5 minutes after the closed check-in. 20 minutes and 30 quid ($59) later, I was rebooked on the 7.30a flight.
Except now I was homeless for the night. Simple problem, nothing to stress about these days. I decided to call the girl I attribute as the genesis of mz easgoing travel attitude... "You did this on purpose, didn't you?" Mal teased as I explained my predicament. But an hour and a half later, drenched in sweat but glad to have finagled my single ride tube ticket into a round trip, I found Mal's apartment, just blocks from the Tower Bridge on the South Bank of the Thames!
...It was so great to see her tha I even submitted to a cup of tea! Tehn off her, Chris (her boy) and I went for Indian food... Then back to the house to try and contact the Vienna hotel and Brianna if she was there, but to no avail...
Mal and I stepped out for an evening stroll along the bank of the Thans and catching up with Mal was just what I needed. We ended up at a Latin pool hall at 11 or midnight for a few nightcaps. We talked of travel and mone and life whist sipping Columbian rum and cokes until we retired back to the house so I could nap for 2 or 3 hours before climbing out of bed at 4.30a to change, repack and catch teh first tube from London Bridge to Green Park to Heathrow.
Still got to Terminal 4 with only 45 minutes, couldn't get the kiosk to work, had to check in manually, then go back and recheck my bag after security said it was too big, then waited through security while they announced the closing of my flight! I raced through the gate and bounded onto the plane, finally en route to Austria, only 13 hours late!
